Lovely natural scenery surrounds the villa in all directions.

The region

St Tropez is 16 kms to the East and Le Lavandou 15 kms to the West.

Le Dattier village

The natural setting of the villa means that you can walk up the hill to the hameau and then along footpaths in any direction. The hameau itself is charming – just like it was 50 years ago – set in the fold of a hill which looks out over the sea.

The path to the east offers a stunning walk along the cliffs to Cavalaire (about 40 mins) while the path to the west follows the old railway track to le Rayol (about 35 mins). Both are part of the “sentier littoral”, the coastal path which runs for miles along the south coast of France. There are many other walks in the area.

Restaurants

There are many good restaurants in the area, particularly in Le Rayol and Le Canadel, also in Grimaud and Cogolin, and of course in St Tropez. Cavalaire has a lot of restaurants, particularly at the port.

Beaches

The beach of Cavalaire is 5kms long and sub-divides into 6 or 7 sections, each offering good bathing and beach restaurants, with the smartest being Gigaro at the eastern end. There are also good beaches to the west at Le Rayol and Le Canadel and to the east at Pampelonne, the main beach of St Tropez.

Shopping

Cavalaire has good shopping with a market on Wednesdays. La Croix Valmer is smaller but charming with a market on Sundays and St Tropez offers quality shops and a market in the Place des Lices on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Sport

Golf is available at Ste Maxime, Beauvallon or Valcros (5kms west of Le Lavandou). And there is a championship course at Draguignan. The cost is usually 80 euros per round.

Tennis is available at Cavalaire Tennis Club at 20 euros per hour.

Wind surfing and Hobycats can be rented at Gigaro beach at the far west end of the bay of Cavalaire and boats of all types can be rented at Cavalaire port.
